"I am a strong supporter of medical technology startup companies in Waterloo Region. There are more than 50 of these companies operating now right now and through Communitech and the Accelerator Centre I work with several of them to support them in the commercialization of their innovations.
I believe that the two most important things that separate great communities (or even countries) from the not-so-great are, a) the education system and, b) the healthcare system. The first is the engine of economic prosperity and culture, and the second allows us the care we need to be better when things go wrong. Specifically as it relates to the importance of healthcare, when our health is suffering, everything else suffers with it – family, work and the joy of life. We are very fortunate to have great education and great healthcare in our Region – and we all have a responsibility to help nurture and support them in whatever way we can."
One of Bruce's Waterloo Region gems...
"Belmont Village, just west of Grand River Hospital, has lots of very nice restaurants and shops that maintains the atmosphere of a traditional small-town downtown."
