Hongwei Liu is the CEO of Mappedin, Canada's largest indoor mapping company working with over 600 million square feet of customer space Mappedin across 25 countries. He has led the company’s growth from the founding team to the 55-person operation based out of their Waterloo office. Hongwei grew up in Ottawa and came to Waterloo to study Electrical Engineering. His first job out of school was in BlackBerry's radio-frequency lab.
"My previous experience with the Hospital is spending two nights in the ER - Both times because a coworker broke something at a Mappedin team sporting event.
I love animals. My cat Hobbes featured briefly as our Mappedin office cat before allergies and then the pandemic forced him into early retirement."
One of Hongwei's Waterloo Region gems...
"Queen Street Commons Cafe - great food and a good cause, run by the Working Centre. And kayaking down the Grand River - one of the highlights of the region I always recommend."
