Be a part of the solution.
Someone in your household gets sick or faces an emergency in the middle of the night.
Your first thought: Oh no, will we have to wait hours in the emergency room? Why are wait times so long? Thousands of families in Kitchener-Waterloo are struggling to find a family doctor.
Across Ontario, the physician shortage is growing. Here in our Region, approximately 1 in 5 residents—130,000 people—don’t have access to primary care. These are our friends, our neighbours, our loved ones. This isn’t just a hospital issue—it’s a community crisis. But this is a challenge we can overcome—together.
Donate today and help us bring more doctors home to Waterloo Region. Together, we can create a healthier future for all.

Meet Dr. Kevin Uzoma
Dr. Uzoma is one of the newest family physicians in our community. “I was practicing medicine in Staffordshire, UK when I heard about Kitchener Waterloo.
The area’s rapid growth and endless business opportunities made it enticing, but I had hesitations about relocating my family and finding appropriate housing. From when I was first made aware of the area, to the time of my arrival, I never felt alone.
The Kitchener Waterloo Physician Recruitment Team helped make the relocation process seamless, and now I can help support the needs of this community through my new family practice.”
About the Greater Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber of Commerce
For over a decade, the Chamber has recognized that family physician recruitment is critical in meeting the primary health care needs of our rapidly growing population. Lack of access to family practitioners is not only a serious community health care issue impacting our citizens, it is also an economic development issue impacting our business community.
Through the Physician Recruitment Program, hosted by the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce on behalf of the community and supported by Grand River Hospital Foundation, we’re actively recruiting family doctors and specialists from across Canada and around the world.
