In 2020, I spent a lot of time walking. The Covid-19 pandemic has affected us all, to different degrees and in different ways. For me, the physical exercise has been a necessity, but the long walks, especially in natural settings, have also provided opportunities to put pandemic-related emotions into perspective. This series of photographs has grown from these walks. For me, the images are a metaphor for the day-by-day journey, with all of its ups and downs, that we are taking through 2020 and 2021 with the Covid-19 cloud hovering over us.
It has been 2 years since this set of images was produced. Covid-19 has become much less of a factor in how we go about our daily lives, but perhaps the cloud is now the many physical, emotional and psychological effects that it brought on. Effects with which we are still dealing. The metaphor that I saw in these photographs 2 years ago still speaks to the day-by-day journey of many.
