Grand River Hospital and Grand River Hospital Foundation have embarked on an incredible journey to revolutionize patient experience through a new hospitality-inspired initiative: GrandServe. GrandServe delivers high-speed connectivity, incredible tech to trial and will evolve into a patient concierge service. The program is in strategic alignment with Grand River Hospital’s vision of bringing a world class health system to our community.
When patients are at the hospital, it can be challenging for them to stay connected with their families and to access entertainment to ease and enhance their health journey. So last year, we launched a high-speed WiFi network solely for patients, care partners and visitors. Now, patients can more easily stay connected with friends and family and access online content and streaming services when they bring their own electronic devices to the hospital. To ensure access for all who need it, we will also be offering a device lending program in partnership with Kitchener Public Library and EnTECH Computer Club and supported by our volunteers. Both the new WiFi network and device lending program are available to patients free of cost.
In the future, we envision that GrandServe will also bring auxiliary services to patients. This could include a concierge service, inspired by services like UberEATS, that will allow patients to order anything we can provide with local partners for delivery.
In December 2021, we granted over $277,235 to the hospital for the upgrade to our GrandServe guest and patient WiFi system. In June 2022, we granted over $42,243 to the hospital for GrandServe equipment including but not limited to TV’s, Tablets, Google home, and Chrome-cast sticks.
