In December 2021 we granted over $277,235 to the hospital for the an upgrade to our Guest & Patient Wifi System.

Grand River Hospital & Foundation have embarked on an incredible journey to revolutionize patient experience through a new hospitality-inspired initiative: GrandServe. GrandServe delivers high-speed connectivity, incredible tech to trial and will evolve into a patient concierge service. The program is in strategic alignment with Grand River Hospital’s vision of bringing a world class health system to our shared community. (

When patients are at the Hospital, they face a number of challenges, especially in a pandemic, in staying connected with their families and accessing content to ease and enhance their health journey. We are readying to launch the new high-speed patient-only WiFi for those who BYOD. This is coupled with a volunteer-led and supported device lending program in partnership with Kitchener Public Library and Entech Computer Club.

This first of its kind program in the world (that we've seen) will bring a new high-speed WiFi, new TVs, voice-controlled Firesticks, iPads, and Chromebooks to patients – all free of cost. The second stage of implementation will bring auxiliary services to patients, such as a brand-new concierge service inspired by services like UberEATS, that will allow them to order anything we can provide with partners. Our first minimal viable product for the service will be coffee and tea from Tim Horton which a volunteer will serve to the guest right to their patient room, quickly and joyfully.

Tax receipts are automatically sent once you have completed the payment information and checked out on the site. When donating any information entered in the Billing Address fields on the payment screen will be used to generate an automatic tax receipt. If company name is added here the tax receipt will be issued to the company.

If you donation is in honour of a friend or loved one you can email a digital e-card directly upon making a donation.

E-cards are available for donations in memory and in celebration, and each e-card allows you to customize the message being sent. In order to send the e-card you would need to know the email address of the recepient.

On the completed payment screen you will see the available e-card options or you can click on this link and send a card and message directly.

The Foundation will only notify individuals on request. You can use the cart note functionality to provide a message and full contact details.
