Hemodialysis Machines

Kidneys are the body’s filtration system, and when the kidneys begin to fail, whether from physical injury or diseases like diabetes, the body needs help. Hemodialysis draws blood from the body and cleans it by passing it through an artificial kidney machine. Our equipment operates from 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Monday to Saturday year round. Because of the constant use, even with the highest quality controls, these machines slowly take a beating and need to be replaced.

The Renal Program at Grand River Hospital is one of the largest programs within a community hospital in Ontario and the only dialysis program in the region. Patients in the intensive care unit may also require the use of acute dialysis if their kidneys stop functioning.

In September 2021, we granted over $18,034 to the hospital for new hemodialysis machines.
