Transonic machines to assist with patient care. To receive hemodialysis, kidney care patients need an arteriovenous (AV) fistula to provide good dialysis access. An AV fistula is a surgical connection made between an artery and a vein to increase the blood pressure and amount of blood flowing through the vein--this causes the vein to enlarge so that it's capable of delivering the amount of blood flow that is required for hemodialysis. It's also where the needles are inserted to connect a patient to a hemodialysis machine so they can receive treatment.
Transonic machines are used to monitor the blood flow through a patient's fistula. This ongoing monitoring reduces the risk of clotting in the fistula and losing this critical dialysis access site.
In March 2021, we granted over $7,488 to the hospital towards their purchase of a Transonic Machine.
