Parent suites are essential to a hospital’s children’s and childbirth programs, particularly for parents who have a baby receiving care in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Currently, the hospital has five small parent suites in the NICU that can parents can book to stay overnight at the hospital while their baby is receiving care.

NICUs specialize in caring for babies who are very sick or are born prematurely and require extra support. Spending time in the NICU can be a challenging experience for babies and their families, and throughout this uncertain and potentially stressful experience, the ability for parents to remain at the hospital with their child can be incredibly beneficial for both the baby and parents alike.

To promote the highest level of patient and family experience, and in alignment with our value of In Service & Hospitality, we plan to refurbish each of these five parent suites to make these rooms more welcoming and comfortable. Each room will be repainted and refurnished to include things like new beds and linens, TVs and mini-fridges. The upgrades for each room are budgeted at an estimated $15,000.

All donations exceeding our fundraising goal for parent suites will support the highest priority needs of the Grand River Kids care area.

TAX RECEIPTS

Tax receipts are automatically sent once you have completed your payment information and checked out. If you do not see an email come through with your tax receipt, please check your junk or spam email folders. The email subject line is Grand River Hospital Foundation Donation Receipt.

When donating, any information entered in the billing address fields on the payment screen will be used to generate an automatic tax receipt. If a company name is added here, the tax receipt will be issued to the company.

If your donation is in honour of a friend or loved one, you can email them a digital e-card upon making a donation.

E-cards are available for donations made in memory and in celebration of someone, and each e-card allows you to customize the message being sent. In order to send an e-card, you will need to know the recipient's email address.

When you reach the completed payment screen, you will see the available e-card options, or you can click this link to send an e-card and message directly.

The Foundation will only notify individuals upon request. You can use the cart note function to provide a message and contact details for the recipient.
