Grand River Hospital volunteer Chris Costa was inspired to take action and raise money for local health care after seeing the need in the community while volunteering in the hospital’s emergency department. On May 6, 2023, Chris will embark on a 24-hour walk to raise money for Camino Wellbeing + Mental Health, Women's Crisis Services, and Grand River Hospital as part of an initiative he created called Change In Motion.

"Walking for 24 hours shows a commitment to putting in the work to create change and impact,” explained Chris. “ Action is what we're all about. Speaking is great to create awareness, but … action says more."

As a competitive runner, Chris has received significant support for Change In Motion from local running and kickboxing communities, especially early on. He attributes much of Change In Motion’s success so far to this initial engagement and encouragement, noting that he, “see[s] these communities as just as big of [a] reason Change In Motion exists as the efforts put in to create an impact in our local community.”

Chris’s 24-hour walk will take place from noon on May 6th until noon on May 7th on an 11 km loop that begins at the Camino Wellbeing + Mental Health parking lot located at 400 Queen St. S in Kitchener, ON. Community members are encouraged to join the walk at any time and for any distance or to support the cause by donating to Change In Motion's fundraising page at www.changeinmotioncanada.ca
