Finding comfort during a hospital stay takes creativity, and Grand River Kids need your help. As kids get older (and bigger), Grand River Hospital helps them through accidents, illness, ongoing treatment, and mental health care. Sometimes, patients and families don’t have the chance to pack their things before coming to the hospital. That’s where you come in!
While staying at the hospital to receive mental health care, children and teens attend therapy groups to learn healthy coping skills and how to express their feelings, and new, donated items like diaries, colouring supplies, cue cards, fidget toys, paint, canvases, stickers, and Play-Doh can all be used to help patients learn these vital skills. New, donated hygiene supplies, such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair brushes, hair elastics, tooth brushes, toothpaste, and deodorant are also important to have available for those who may not have been able to bring their own.
For kids admitted to other programs, craft supplies and activities can also be a great source of entertainment, helping to take their mind off of being in the hospital. More general items like colouring books, crayons, pencil crayons, model magic, and craft kits tend to be particularly popular with children and adolescents of many ages.
Your donation will make a huge difference for children and teens who have to spend time at the hospital by providing them with the supplies they need. If you have new craft or hygiene supplies to donate, please book a time to drop off your donation at the Hospital’s KW Campus.
