The team at GFL Environmental Inc.’s Kitchener division went above and beyond to make the holidays special for kids at Grand River Hospital this year. Through GFL’s Full Circle Project, they generously donated $5,000 to Grand River Kids and hosted a toy drive, collecting toys for kids who would be spending time in the hospital over Christmas.
The Full Circle Project is GFL’s community-driven charity partnership program. It’s a unique alternative to corporate giving that allows them to support the causes that are most important to the staff in each division as well as their customers. For GFL’s Kitchener team, that meant giving back to Grand River Hospital.
As members of our community who live right here in Kitchener, many of them have a personal connection to Grand River Hospital and, in particular, Grand River Kids, where many of their children were born or have received care. The team felt compelled to give back to Grand River because of their own stories and positive experiences at the hospital, and they decided that making a donation and hosting a toy drive were the perfect way to do that.
“[The staff] really did help,” said Jennifer Cabral-Yocom, Business Development Representative, GFL Environmental Inc. of her experience at Grand River Hospital, calling the nurses who cared for her daughter in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), “the kindest, sweetest, most helpful people on the the planet.”
On behalf of the patients, their families and the hospital staff, thank you so much to GFL Environmental Inc. for supporting Grand River Kids and making a difference for children and families at the hospital this holiday season.
