Holiday History at the Hospital

As we celebrate our 125th anniversary, we are reaching out to our community to uncover amazing stories that help tell our collective story.

Our wonderful Grand River Hospital Archives team has shared with us some priceless pieces of Grand River Hospital Holiday History:

Our 1949 Operating Nursing Staff in the Operating Room work room at Kitchener Waterloo Hospital. This image was used as the department's 1949 Holiday Card, sent to other departments and physicians in the hospital.
From left to right, Anne Leslie, Marjorie McQueen, Elaine Snider, Kathleen Esch, Doris Murray, Shirley Shantz (Sim), Emma Farquharson.
This photograph was taken in December 1947. KWH bacteriologist Dr. Ernie Brown, Administrator Gordon Friesen and Hospital Pharmacist Parrin Statia posing playfully with chefs caps and aprons on after serving an annual Holiday Meal to the Hospital Staff.
A Holiday Greeting Card for use of our Kitchener Waterloo Hospital Nursing Students in 1957, with the nursing school crest sketched. This Greeting Card was sent by Fay Albrecht, former nurse and long time Archives Volunteer at Grand River Hospital.
A Holiday Postcard of the Berlin and Waterloo Hospital.
