Grand River Regional Cancer Centre (GRRCC) is Waterloo Wellington’s cancer centre, supporting a catchment area of over 800,000 people. It has the shortest wait times for cancer services in Ontario and is the ONLY provider of radiation therapy in the region.

After receiving a frightening cancer diagnosis, close to 5,000 people in our community require either intensive radiation or chemotherapy treatment to save their lives. Some must travel across the region to receive these treatments.

Patients who require radiation treatment typically receive treatments five days a week for 4-6 weeks. It leaves many feeling too tired and overwhelmed to travel any significant distance back and forth to the hospital.

Because of this huge strain, Grand River Hospital (GRH) provides compassionate support for these patients by arranging for and funding stays at local hotels in the Region for those who have the extra burden of travel more than 40km. 

In 2018/19 GRH supported over 40 patients through the Patient Accommodation Fund at a cost of $72,000. Without this support, many would not be able to receive these life saving treatments.

When donating any information entered in the Billing Address fields on the payment screen will be used to generate an automatic tax receipt. If company name is added here the tax receipt will be issued to the company.

If you donation is in honour of a friend or loved one you can email a digital e-card directly upon making a donation.

E-cards are available for donations in memory and in celebration, and each e-card allows you to customize the message being sent. In order to send the e-card you would need to know the email address of the recepient.

On the completed payment screen you will see the available e-card options or you can click on this link and send a card and message directly.

The Foundation will only notify individuals on request. You can use the cart note functionality to provide a message and full contact details.
