Grand Welcome Volunteer Position Details
Be a part of making Grand River Hospital a welcoming place for all. When patients and visitors arrive at the hospital, Grand Welcome Volunteers are their first point of contact. The focus of this role is to greet patients and set the tone for a positive patient experience while providing support through wayfinding or portering patients to appointments in the hospital. The primary responsibilities of a Grand Welcome Volunteer are as follows:
- ● Greet and assist visitors and patients arriving at the hospital in a friendly and helpful manner
- ● Accompany visitors and patients to their destination throughout the hospital
- ● Porter patients requiring wheelchair assistance
- ● Provide general information regarding hospital facilities and services
- ● Ensure a supply of wheelchairs is available at the Main Lobby
- ● Deliver flowers/packages as needed, with a focus on assisting patients first
All volunteers in the Grand Welcome program will then need to successfully complete a volunteer orientation and all necessary health and safety checks, including completing a vulnerable sector screening with your local police department, providing proof of vaccination for measles, mumps, rubella and COVID-19 and completing a two-step TB test. *Please note that Grand Welcome is not a mentorship opportunity, co-op program or opportunity to practice clinical skills. Grand Welcome Volunteers play an important role in their interactions with patients and visitors at the hospital, but they are not involved in observing physicians or performing clinical care.
